Fuel Soaked Wood

(From the December 1990 Turbulator, the newsletter of The Thermaleers and the MacDonnel Douglas Free Flight Club)

Anybody have a power model in need of repairs in the nose area, but the wood has become soaked with fuel and is reluctant to accept CA, Epoxy, or what have you?

A hint in the Lagrange, GA R/C newsletter says to try this: Mix cornstarch and rubbing alcohol into a paste and apply to oil-soaked areas. Let it dry maybe eight hours and brush off. Apparently the alcohol enters the wood, mixes with the oil, rises to the surface, and is absorbed into the cornstarch.

It's worth a try.
